DOVER, DE — Pukpuk Power N notched a 1:52.3 victory in the $23,800 Delaware Winners-Over pace while Real Magician took the $19,500 sub- feature at Dover Downs on Sunday, March 30.

After three straight starts from outside post 8, an improved starting position in the $23,800 feature proved the winning tonic for Joel and Dianne Halpern’s Pukpuk Power N with Tim Tetrick guiding the victory. The Armbro Operative gelding scooted past leader Ima Prince Too (Tony Morgan) on the backstretch and then moved away to a decisive victory, his first of the year. Menno Boy closed fast for Eddie Davis Jr. to finish second. Mr. Socks and George Dennis took third money.

Real Magician was strong in the stretch for Brandon Givens closing for a 1:53.2 win in the $19,500 4&5-Year-Old pace. Neil Gargiulo and trainer Wayne Givens own the Real Artist gelding. Cathedral Grove (Corey Callahan) nipped Art Crown Merit (George Dennis) for second-place honors.

Ed Gold and driver Ben Stafford Jr.’s Jersey Gal came through with a win in her first start of the season, a 1:54.2 win in a $16,000 4&5-Year-Old Mares pace. Cathy’s Gigolo (Tony Morgan) was runner-up. On Stage Sizzle (Eddie Davis Jr.) was third.

Reverse The Curse won a $16,000 4&5-Year-Old Male pace in 1:54.3 with Jonathan Roberts driving the Armbro MacKintoch gelding to his second win of the season. Coletown USA (Tim Tetrick) finished second in front of Super Grover (Tony Morgan).

Tim Tetrick’s first of four wins came steering March For Joy to a 1:54.2 romp in a $10,500 4&5-Year-Old Male pace. Tim Hundertpfund and Joe Colosi owned the son of Western Hanover, a three-time winner this season. Pride And Luck (Tony Morgan) and Mismark (Ross Wolfenden) were second and third respectively.

Tetrick also drove the winner of the top claimer of the night, with a $25,000 tag, Swingingwithashark, a 1:52.3 winner for Bill Emmons. Switch Hitter (Tony Morgan) was second with Macbeth Blue Chip (Mike Cole), the third finisher.

Brewer Adams steered Hezaumpn Bluegrass, a 12-year-old Dorunrun Bluegrass gelding that he also owns and trains to victory in 1:54.1. The win is the fifth in 10 starts this season. Gin And Vermouth (Tony Morgan) was second with Cloudy Heights N (Corey Callahan) third.

FT. WASHINGTON, MD – PH Outlaw [$9.00, $2.60, $2.60] turned in an impressive performance in the $4,200 Winner’s Over pace at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday, traveling three-wide to win by half of a length in 1:54.4.

Driven by Corey Braden, the eight-year-old Happy Family gelding was several lengths off of the leader in sixth through opening fractions of 27.2 and 55.3. Braden took the gelding out second-over behind betting choice Mattjestic Art around the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4. PH Outlaw stuck his neck out at the wire to win for owner William Emmons and trainer Shawn Armour.

Instigator [$3.20, $3.60], driven by Chris Offutt at 12/1 odds by post time, finished second in a dead heat with Mattjestic Art. The eight-year-old Presidential Ball gelding was third up on the outside, and closed with a final quarter of 29.4. ‘Bib’ Roberts trains the gelding for the Graham Grace Stables LLC.

Mattjestic Art [$2.10, $2.10], a trainee of Alvin Callahan, battled to the wire to secure a spot on the board. The seven-year-old Artiscape gelding, owned by Marvin Callahan, was sharp with Milby in the sulky.

Grand Duke Hanover finished third after cutting the opening fractions of the mile with trainer Alvin Callahan in the sulky. The trifecta returned $94.40 for the 7-2-5 combination and $44.20 for 7-5-2.

The morning line favorite, Weiss Hanover, was scratched sick before the race.

DOVER, DE — Allamerican Reason scored a 1:53.2 victory in the $17,300 Male feature while Florist closed fastest in the $15,500 distaff feature at Dover Downs on Saturday, March 29. Tony Morgan and Jim Morand registered driving triples.

Trainer Mike Hall picked up his second win of the night when Corey Callahan drove Allamerican Reason to his second win of the year in the Delaware Male pace for owners David Krol and Pohl Lander Farms. Josh’s Z Tam (Tony Morgan), the race favorite, finished second. Flat Out Lucky (Roger Plante) made a big effort three wide around the final turn and took third money.

Steady campaigner Florist, a Rustler Hanover four-year-old, came on with a rush to win the Delaware 4&5-Year-Old Mare pace, her third win of the year. Co-owners Ben Stafford, trains and Ben Stafford, Jr. drove the winner to a new mark of 1:54.4. Whammy Hanover (Ross Wolfenden) also flashed late speed to finish second in front of pacesetting Art Sizzles (Eddie Davis Jr.), the third finisher.

George Dennis sent Fivedollarsforsox three wide at the three quarters to loop the field and then pulled away for a 1:57 victory in an $11,500 feature trot. Ask W Stables and George & Tina Dennis Inc. own the SJ’s Caviar gelding in his first winners-circle visit of the year. Tug River Man (Ross Wolfenden) was second with Stone Cold Steve (Brandon Givens) third.

All This Snazz, owned by trainer Glenn Wilson, equaled his career best as Jim Morand scored his second win on the card Ritzy Rip (Tim Curtin) closed well to finish second in front of Sears Tower (Vic Kirby).

Gateway Stable’s Mr. Fit dashed down the lane under the urging of Jonathan Roberts to post a 1:53.3 victory in a $20,000 Claiming pace. Iwannabesedated (Corey Callahan) closed to within a half-length of the winner. Rapid Dialing (Jim Morand) was the show horse.

Chosen Voyageur [$15.40, $5.40, $3.60] raced unchallenged through a Winner’s Over trot for $4,200 at Rosecroft Raceway on Friday, winning by over three lengths in 1:56.1 with Victor Kirby at his lines.

Trained by Dawn Dellaporte for owner Jim Winske, the five-year-old Balanced Image gelding led the trailers through fractions of 28.1, 58.0 and 1:26.4. Kirby urged the horse on in the stretch for a 29.2 last quarter. Chosen Voyageur, off at 6/1 odds by post time, upped his lifetime earnings to nearly $114,000 with this win.

Chippewa Warrior [$3.60, $2.10] finished second with a trip in the pocket under the guidance of driver Frank Milby. Trained by Roger Hans, the eight-year-old Veeba Rova gelding was sharp off of the gate, showing early speed to secure a spot near the top. Tom Cooke owns the gelding, which finished second in last week’s Open trot against Four Starz Robro.

Mountain Breez [$5.20] closed out the notable $445.80 trifecta after trotting second-over with Chris Offutt at her lines. Racing for trainer Joe Offutt and owner Anne McDonald, the six-year-old SJ’s Photo mare crossed under the wire seven-and-a-half lengths behind the winner.

The even-money favorite, Celtic Hall, was parked through the middle half of the mile to finish seventh for trainer-driver Donnie Russell.

DOVER, DE — The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old colts and gelding began their preliminaries with five divisions at Dover Downs on Thursday, March 27. Drollinger and Man Of Science won the trots, Big Heart, Uncle Rubble and Dina’s Gamble took the paces. Fine-Tuner wins overnight feature and Tim Tetrick won four races.

In DSBF Three-Year-Old Colt paces and trots, Arlie Tinder’s Drollinger a son of CR Commando, scored an impressive victory for Vic Kirby on the chilly and windy evening in 2:01. First National closed strongly for Art Stafford Jr. to finish second with Rough Seas and Eddie Davis Jr. third. It was the first of two winners for trainer Jeff Long.

The fastest clocking for a DSBF trot came in the other $20,000 section when Brandon Givens guided a chestnut CR Commando he shares in ownership with Walter Blacharski, Man Of Science to victory in 2:01.1. Indian Hill Mojoe and Ron Hill closed quickly to finish second. Bogey N Bacall with Corey Callahan was the show finisher.

Teague Inc.’s Big Heart, teamed with Jim Morand, fought off a bid from Frog Juice and Tim Tetrick, the second-place finisher, around the final turn before pulling away for a 1:53.1 victory in a $20,000 DSBF colt test. Always A Choice came in third.

Tetrick also steered Joe Gulotta’s Uncle Rubble to his second win of the night a 1:53.3 victory, the third in his last four starts for the Badlands Hanover-sired gelding. Business Plan and Ben Stafford raced game to finish second in front of Mimi’s Tyler and Ross Wolfenden the early leader.

Dina’s Gamble, owned by Vicki Givens and Louie Paglieroni, came on entering the stretch drive to score a 1:53.4 decision in another DSBF section. Martiniwith Olives pulled Tony Morgan to a second while Badlands Jaden and Tim Tetrick were third.

On the regular card, Fine-Tuner, with Corey Callahan holding the reins, held off Tufsun Beach (Tim Tetrick) in the stretch to win a $19,200 Delaware 4&5-Year-Old Male pace in 1:54. Stacy’s Character (Bryan Truitt) took show money. Andy Kovath bred, owns and trains Fine-Tuner, a son of Tune Town, the outstanding pacer that Kovath trained during his racing career.

Bill Emmons’ Elegant Dreams was one of Tim Tetrick’s four winning drives taking the $25,000 Claiming Allowance in 1:53.1. The Aussie Fighter (Frank Milby) closed strongly to finish second. Sparkler (Mike Cole) took third.

Arty Foster’s Spunky Vic enjoyed a 2-hole trip and then Ross Wolfenden rolled down the passing lane with the Valley Victor gelding to score a 1:58.4 victory in the $14,500 feature trot. Smokey Bear (Eddie Davis Jr.) was runner-up. Rattlesnake Jake (George Dennis) finished third.

LITIGATOR IN $32,000 OPEN TROT, MORAND, CAMPBELL DRIVES TWO DSBF WINS

DOVER, Del.— Litigator, one of two winning trots for Roger Plante, powered to a 1:54.3 victory in the $32,000 Open, Financial Glider, one of two wins for Eddie Davis Jr. won the $23,000 Mares Winner’s Over while Saint Johns Boy led from the start in 1:55 to win the $21,000 trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, March 26. Jim Morand and John Campbell also had driving doubles.

Roger Plante made a wise tactical decision after race favorite Jake’s Nordic (Tim Curtin) was torched by Rose Run Flash during the early stages of the feature trot. Plante put Litigator into high gear on the final turn rolling three wide into to lead entering the homestretch and a 1:54.3 victory, the fourth of the season for the Steve LeBlanc conditioned Valley Victor gelding owned by Parent Racing and Crystal Ball Stable. Mike Cole kept Rose Run Flash going enough to finish second. Winbak Red streaked down the lane for Jim King for show honors.

Eddie Davis Jr. and Financial Glider, owned by Lorna Cohen and Kevin Switzer, quick stepped past Lady Segil N (Tony Morgan) heading to the three-quarters and then moved away for a 1:56.2 win in the $23,000 Mares Winners-Over trot. Go Sassy Go closed strongly for George Dennis to finish second. Vicki Gram and Art Stafford Jr. picked up third money. The win was the first of two for Davis.

M&M Harness Racing’s Saint Johns Boy took to the front for Tim Tetrick and commanded a 1:55 victory in a $21,000 trot. Laser Lavec came on for George Dennis to take second in front of Moneyball and Mike Cole.

Jim Morand and John Campbell make the winners circle twice during the opening $20,000 round of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF)/ Morand drove the fastest winners in the filly trot and pace.

In the first of two trots, Juanita, bred, driven and co-owned by Morand with Les Givens, continued her near unblemished record scoring a wire-to-wire 2:00.4 victory, her ninth in 10 career starts, in the first $20,000 filly preliminary. Another CR Commando daughter, Winsmith Amy came in second for Vic Kirby while a Political Briefing distaff My Happiness and Bob Kinsey Jr. was third.

Campbell drove the Political Briefing filly Basic Encounter, owned by the same named, to victory in 2:00 to win the second $20,000 DSBF trot. Commando Queen led until mid stretch for Vic Kirby and had to settle for second. First Season, also by Political Briefing, was the show finishers piloted by Jim King.

In the $20,000 filly pace prelims, Morand piloted Brenda Teague’s Sheisaknockout, a homebred daughter of Badlands Hanover, to a 1:53.3 lifetime record in one of the four sections. Royal Fortune came in second for Vic Kirby with Debs Lady Fortune and Mike Cole third.

John Campbell steered Tug River Princess, an overwhelming favorite, to a 1:54 triumph. Let It Ride and Robert Cooper stables, purchased the Badlands Hanover sophomore recently in time to win the Tender Love Care final at the Meadowlands. The win was the fourth of the year and ninth straight in an unbeaten career this far. Cosmo Madness and Corey Callahan saw a four race win streak come to a close in a strong effort finishing second. Eurobound and Ross Wolfenden was the third filly.

A trio of Badlands Hanover fillies finished1-2-3 in the other $20,000 section in a 1:54.2 mile. The winner was Badlands Power, owned by trainer Andrew Stafford and driver Art Stafford Jr. held off fast finishing Maddie G and Tim Tetrick for a 1:54.2 victory. Pink Sweater was third piloted by Jonathan Roberts.

Eddie Davis Jr. executed a perfect drive behind Janet Davis’ trained 10-1 shot Ashleys Lucky Lady allowing Rusty’s Martini (Jonathan Roberts) to take the lead heading to the three quarters and then coming back out turning for home and drawing off for a 1:55.2 victory for owners Sam Jacobs and Ron Reed. Twotixto Paradice closed well for Ross Wolfenden to finish second. JMDancingshannon made it an all Badlands Hanover payoff board finishing third.

DOVER, DE — Rusty’s For Real, one of four successes by Tim Tetrick, won the week’s top event, the $37,500 Delaware Special at Dover Downs on Monday, March 24. Eoos scored in the $28,000 Jr. Open while Print It, were each driven to victory by Brian Sears.

In the feature, Rusty’s For Real rushed three-wide heading to the last turn as Art Director, with Brian Sears, and Fountain Of Youth and Ross Wolfenden battled along the backstretch. Tim Tetrick then directed the Real Artist-sired four-year-old to his second win of the year for Carter Racing Stable. The fast gray, Klondike Kid closed for Eric Goodell to take second in front of Art Director.

Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta’s Eoos put on a strong finish to win the $28,000 Jr. Open pace in the fastest time of the night, a 1:50.3 mile. Kass Hall left with Brian Sears in a 35.4 opening panel and kept the lead until the stretch when Ron Pierce and Eoos picked up the pace from the rear and taxied into the lead as the field headed for home. Eoos the held off Winbak Speed and Brandon Givens to win for the fifth time in 11 starts this meet. Victor Vuitton N was third with Eddie Davis Jr. driving.

In the $25,000 Winners-Over pace, Print It, with Brian Sears at the controls, poured it on in the stretch to overtake Armbro Baylor and Tony Morgan for a 1:51 victory. White Hot Cards closed from far back for Tim Tetrick to take show money. Print It is owned by Tom Kelly, who managed the Minnesota Twins to two World Series titles.

Brandon Givens drove Charles and Diane Coursey’s Northern Scholar into lead at the start of the $22,800 Delaware Winners-Over pace and after shaking off a challenge from Tony Morgan-driven Ginfrombeertobeer from the half until the top of the lane pulled away for a 1:51.4 decision. Hot Lather finished second for Eric Goodell after a 2-hole trip. Cool Flying Fun with Corey Callahan was another half-length back in third.

Next Flight proved the best in the first of the $21,000 Male paces. Jim Morand piloted the Shotgun Scott gelding home in 1:52.2 for Belle Bauman, Henry Faragalli Jr. and III and trainer Del Cote. Cool Cat came on strongly for Sean Bier to finish second beaten a neck. Blue Swimmer A and Roger Plante took third.

Dan and Tom Courtemanche’s Bobnoxious won the second $21,000 pace as Tim Curtin rolled along the passing lane to beat front-pacing JA’s Outlaw and Tim Tetrick by a nose in 1:52. Skeleton Key with Yannick Gingras in the bike, finished third.

Tony Morgan teamed with Armand Bernard and Arnold Witkin’s Saucy Master N for a 1:53 score in a $40,000-$45,000 Claiming Handicap. JK Jack set the pace with Eric Goodell. Star Drifter N and David Miller finished along the passing lane for third money.

In addition to Tim Tetrick’s four wins, Brian Sears had a triple and Tony Morgan a driving double. Owners Ken Wood and Vincent Bradley and trainers Eric Ell, Jeff Whaley and Bobby Clark had two winners each.

DOVER, DE — Aint No Misfit and the sport’s leading dash win driver in 2008, Tony Morgan added five wins to his credit including Kattimon winner along with Aint No Misfit in the $19,200 Delaware 4&5-Year-Old Mare twin-feature paces at Dover Downs on Saturday, March 22.

Kattimon annexed her third win in a row and fourth in the last five for Mike and Lisa Hill and Green Racing Inc., as Tony Morgan steered the Astreos four-year-old to victory in 1:55.3 in one of the $19,200 co-feature events. Florist (Ben Stafford) came on to finish second with Thevoodoothatyoudo (Vic Kirby) taking the show money.

Roger Plante, who had three winning drives, took Mike Gannon’s Aint No Misfit right to the front and led every step to a 1:55 score in the first of the $19,200 co-features. On State Sizzle (Eddie Davis Jr.) was second all the way, Goodlands Patty (Brandon Gives) took third.

Adam Zawick’s 19-1 Marathon Hall came thundering down the lane for Sean Bier to score a 1:54.4 victory in a $20,000 Claiming Allowance. Sam’s Clever Boy (Ross Wolfenden), an even longer 56-1, was second with 20-1 On His Way (Ed Nickle) third.

Charles Veneziale’s Napoleon Andrup was strongest in the stretch in a 1:57 triumph in the first of two $11,000 feature trots. Kim Vincent drove the gelding to his first win of the year. CC’s Glide-On-Bye (Joe Columbo) was runner-up. Tom Bruce (Jim Morand) led early and settled for third place.

Valdez closed with a rush for Tom Clendining to overtake leader Beau Windswept (Corey Callahan) in the final stride for a 1:57.3 win. Marvin Meyer owns the Dream Vacation gelding winner of an $11,000 feature trot. Star Lite Stinger (Vic Kirby) was third.

Guzinthite started a three-straight streak for Tony Morgan in the $10,700 Delaware trot. Charlotte Startt owns the nine-year-old gelding making his first trip to the winner’s circle this year after a 1:59.4 mile. LaSpur (Ross Wolfenden) was second with Hay Nugget (George Dennis) the show finisher.

Roland Wainwright’s Flea Market took Roger Plante to the winner’s circle for the second time after a 1:53.4 victory. Sea Man (Corey Callahan) was a gritty second in front of Beavercreek Harley (Brandon Givens).

FT. WASHINGTON, MD – In spite of being parked out the entire mile, Mattjestic Art [$18.80, $7.20, $4.80] managed to win a featured pace worth $4,200 at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday.

Driven off of the gate from post position seven by Frank Milby, the seven-year-old Artiscape gelding battled contenders along the outside through fractions of 27.1 57.2 and 1:26.3. Trained by Alvin Callahan for Marvin Callahan, Mattjestic Art proved he had heart, winning by half of a length in 1:56.1 at 8/1 odds.

Betting choice Weiss Hanover [$4.20, $3.20] was parked to the quarter pole but managed to retake the lead before the half. Trained and driven by Donnie Russell for owner Edward Needle, the six-year-old son of Western Hanover closed well with a 29.3 last quarter to finish second.

Instigator [$7.60] finished out the $177.40 trifecta after sitting behind Weiss Hanover through much of the mile. Driven by Chris Offutt for trainer ‘Bib’ Roberts, the eight-year-old Presidential Ball gelding went off at 18/1 odds by post time. Instigator races for the Graham Grace Stables LLC.

After finishing second last week to Elaine T Cronos in 1:55.1, Weiss Hanover will open on the board as the 5/2 morning line favorite in a Winner’s Over pace at Rosecroft Raceway, tonight, Saturday March 22^nd.

Cutting the mile last week with trainer Donnie Russell in the sulky, the six-year-old Western Hanover horse faltered at the wire to miss by a mere half of a length. However, the horse has been extremely consistent in each of his miles recently, hitting the board five of his last six starts in upper level classes. Russell will again be in the sulky and the pair will start from post position six. Edward Needle owns the winner of over $237,000 lifetime.

Mattjestic Art returns from Dover Downs after a sick scratch on March 17^th and will start from post position seven at 7/2 early odds. Frank Milby will be aboard for the drive on the seven-year-old Artiscape gelding. On March 5^th, the trainee of Alvin Callahan qualified at Dover in 1:55.4 with a last quarter of 28.1. Marvin Callahan owns Mattjestic Art.

From the rail, Perfect Magic may be a contender at 5/1 odds in the program. Trained by Roger Hans for owner Tom Cooke, the five-year-old Bettor’s Delight horse was third at the Meadowlands on March 16^th in 1:55.0 with a final tick of 26.4. Corey Braden will drive the horse away from the gate.
