Open pace kicks off Saturday RcR card

The first race of the evening brings a field of seven Open pacers to the track for a purse of $6,000 tonight, Saturday March 15th.

Weiss Hanover is the early 5/2 morning line favorite after returning from the Meadows where he competed in upper-level races with success. The six-year-old Western Hanover horse, trained and driven by Donnie Russell for owner Edward Needle, will start from post position six. Currently, the horse sports a line of 3-2-0 across the board from six seasonal starts.

Elaine T Cronos returns from the Meadowlands; the seven-year-old Viking Terror horse proved he was a contender in his last start, finishing third by three-quarters of a length in 1:52.2. Luis Porfilio owns, trains and drives Elaine T Cronos, and the pair will start from the rail at 3/1 early odds.

Barolo Hanover also shows promise at 4/1 early odds. Last time out in this class, the six-year-old gelded son of The Panderosa finished third in 1:53.3. Corey Braden will drive the gelding away from the gate in post position four for owners Jacob Ramsburg and Colby Hubble, who also trains.

Instigator (Chris Offutt, 8/1), Gold Comet (Ken Weckstein, 6/1), SA Monterosa (Alvin Lineweaver, 6/1) and Yokozuna Bo (Frank Milby, 6/1) complete the field.

Post time for tonight’s 13-race card is 6:30 p.m.
